In the west of Rodney District, wild beaches of black sand and pounding surf screen the tranquil strands of New Zealand's largest harbour, the Kaipara. To the east are spectacular Pacific coastlines, golden sands and the island of the Hauraki Gulf. In between, is a rural heartland steeped in history.
