Film Rodney aims to make the process of gaining permits for filming
in Rodney District as smooth as possible.
Location Permits
Permission to film is required from the landholder of all locations.
Location filming that involves the following activities needs approval
from the Rodney District Council:
- Use of council owned land
- Use of open spaces, reserves and parks
- Use of council facilities and buildings
- Use of streets and roads
Other council approvals may also be necessary, such as:
- Resource consents under the Resource Management Act
- Consent for temporary structures under the Building Act
Rodney District Council has implemented 'film friendly' policies,
and works within the guidelines set out in the New
Zealand Local Government Filming Protocol.
Location permits are obtained quickly and easily through Rodney
District’s 'film friendly' Events and Film Facilitation team.
The Events and Film Facilitation team and Rodney District Council
recognise the importance of the film industry and have a fast turn
around permit policy, without any red tape.
The team assists film crews in the co-ordination of successful
filmshoots. We have extensive experience in facilitating filming
within Rodney, and can provide contacts and liaison with a range
of services.
Events and Film Facilitation work closely with the Traffic and
Roading Services, Parking, and Parks divisions of Rodney District
Council so that the use of locations is as easy as possible. We
will provide:
- a coordinating role
- information, assistance and permits
- booking of locations and outdoor venues
- quick turnaround for approvals.
